General Information:
SIKKIM, situated between Nepal in the West and Bhutan in the East, State of India in the South and the Tibet in the North is supposed to be the hottest bio-diversity regions in the Himalayas. A visit to SIKKIM is a rare and unique experience, situated on the Eastern Himalayas, in the shadow of the towering Mt. Kanchenjunga ranges, the third highest mountain, which is worshipped as the principal deity.
The region of SIKKIM is an inhabitant of diverse ethnic groups. The Lepchas - the original inhabitants who comprise of about 10 % of the SIKKIMESE population today, the Bhutias - who later migrated from Tibet - about 25% and finally the Nepalese who comprise about 60% of the population. Buddhism is a principle religion in SIKKIM where ancient monastery and Chorten can easily see everywhere.
SIKKIM is famous for wild and unique Himalayan flowers and plants; the flora found here are 28 species of rhododendrons, 500 odd orchid species and numerous other flowering plants. The altitude ranging from 300 m in the river valleys right up to Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586m- the third highest mountain in the world), with summer humidity up to 90% is a haven to encounter a diverse range of plant life and wild animals that found here.


Entry to SIKKIM:
Foreigners must obtain an Inner Line permit from the Home Ministry, New Delhi, four weeks in advance and require applying to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and New Delhi through the Indian Diplomatic Missions in their respective countries. A copy should be endorsed to SIKKIM Tourism; Botanical Treks & Excursion will process for getting visa for its client from Indian Embassy in Kathmandu. We use air Transport until BIRATNAGAR (NEPAL) from Kathmandu, then by road excess to SIKKIM Capital city Gangtok, which takes 50 m flights to BIRATNAGAR then 7hrs land or surface transfer to GANGTOK.

Best months to visit:
March to May and October to December are the best times to visit Sikkim. Bring light woolen clothing during summer (maximum temperature 20.7 degrees Celsius) and heavy woolens during winter (minimum 7.7 degrees).
Note: All botanical interests’ tours / treks will be conducted from April to September.
